As a public benefit corporation (PBC), delivering positive social and environmental impact is core to Vibrant Planet’s mission. Part of this public benefit is making novel data products available for scientific and educational pursuits.

An independent 501(c)(3) organization, Vibrant Planet Data Commons (VPDC) is the nonprofit engine that accelerates the commissioning of cutting-edge environmental science and data analytics at Vibrant Planet. VPDC collaborates with funders, researchers, and partners to generate and publicly share critical scientific research about environmental risks facing communities. The organization grows public awareness around these risks and cultivates ideas for how collective society can mitigate them. 

Their goal is to make meaning of forest science and data to increase wildfire and climate resilience, accelerating innovation for complex problems. They aim to expand participation in the creation, evaluation, and use of science beyond historically included scientific communities.
